MATILDA
Matilda began life as the beloved 1988 children’s novel by Roald Dahl. Full of wit and magic, it spawned a popular 1996 movie adaptation and has become the top seller of Dahl’s works. Now the OCP is proud to present our production of Matilda the Musical, first performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2010!
Matilda’s story might seem like a simple one: an intelligent little girl feels like an outsider in her own family and longs to meet people who like her for who she is. But of course, things can’t always be that simple, can they? You see, Matilda not only has brains, but the power to move objects with her mind as well! Said gifts come in handy when dealing with callous parents, but when you throw an unfair school system and a monster of a principal into the mix, it gets a little harder. Luckily, with the friendship of a kind teacher to guide her, she might just be able to take pride in herself and make some changes.
