Halloween Fun Around Lansing: Events, Trick or Treat, Festivals and More

A few houses in our neighborhood are decked out with Halloween decorations, candy bins are piled high in all of the stores, and my kids officially have their costumes picked out and ready to wear. It’s official – Halloween season is here.

There are events happening all around Lansing! We’ve made a list of family friendly events yours will love to get out and into their costumes at this year!

CADL Halloween Events

The CADL does a great job of holding awesome events and they’ve got a whole line of up Halloween activities through the month of October.

Date: Various dates in October 

Tuesday, October 9:

Trick or Treat Trail 

Bring $1 per kid and take your little cuties over to Sharp Park in Delta Township. Walk the trail around the pond. Kids can “trick or treat” at booths and displays.

Time: 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Wednesday, October 10:

Harvest Fest

Join the Allen Neighborhood Farmers Market for their final week of their outdoor for the season before they head indoors. Harvest Fest at the market will include special guests, food trucks, live music, and of course all of the wonderful vendors. This event will be fun for the whole family and a great time to buy local produce.

Time: 2:30pm – 7pm

Saturday and  Sunday, October 13-14, 20-21, 27-28:

Boo at the Zoo

Little ghouls and boys will enjoy an afternoon of spooktacular fun at Potter Park Zoo! There will be tons of activities for everyone to enjoy. All kids big and small are encourage to come dressed in their spookiest, scariest, or prettiest Halloween costumes.

Saturday, October 13:

Moores Park Porchfest

Porchfest is an all ages artist/music festival featuring free shows on neighbors porches in the Moores Park Neighborhood ending with a movie showing in the park of ‘Beetlejuice’.

Sunday, October 14:

How-To Halloween

How-To Halloween is a festival for ghosts, ghouls and goblins of all ages at the Lansing Center!

Time: 11am – 5pm

Autumn Fest

This year’s East Lansing Farmers Market – Autumn Fest, will feature everything from horse-and-wagon rides to fall-themed children’s activities, free donuts and cider, an outdoor fire pit, live music, fall photo opportunities and more.

Time: 10am – 2pm

 Wednesday, October 17:

Family Pumpkin Party

Decorate a pumpkin with your family at the Grand Ledge District Library! They’ll have tools, paint, markers, glue, glitter and trims.

Time: 6:30pm – 8pm

Saturday, October 20:

Spooktacular Parent’s Great Escape

Parents, drop the kids off at Al!ve in Charlotte, for an evening of Halloween fun. Costumes are encouraged. Supervised activities include: Halloween themed arts and crafts, scavenger hunt, group games, rock wall (45 lbs. and up) and more. Pizza dinner provided.

Time: 6pm – 10pm

Sunday, October 21:

Monster Dash 5K

This annual charity 5k run/walk and costume contest will be fun for the whole family! There are many opportunities for different’ age groups with family packages available.

Time: 10am

Wednesday, October 24:

Halloween at Eastwood Town Center

Dress up in your costumes and Trick or Treat through Eastwood Town Center. This event has a lot going on but is a chill atmosphere making it much easier on parents.
Time: 4pm – 6pm

Thursday, October 25:

Trunk or Treat

Head out to the Mulliken District Library (135 Main St Mulliken, Mi 48861) for the annual Trunk or Treat event. All are welcome!

Time: 6pm – 7:30pm

Friday, October 26:

Bridge Street Trick or Treat

The Halloween fun starts at Aire Serv – 620 N. Clinton Street – and runs all the way up Bridge Street! Dress up, bring smiles and have fun!

Time: 5pm – 7pm

Safe Halloween

The MSU Greek community hosts this popular event to provide children a safe environment to trick-or-treat at the various Greek houses, enjoy games and interact with college students in one of MSU’s predominantly Greek neighborhoods.

Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Howloween in Old Town:

Old Town is hosting a Trick or Treat Event for Dogs. Dress them up in costumes and participate in the costume contest!

Time: 4pm-6pm

Hallelujah Fest

Join The Salvation Army South Corps for their annual Hallelujah Fest! Activities and fun for the whole family.

Time: 5pm to 7 p.m.

Saturday, October 27:

Tag and Treat

Zap Zone would like to invite you all to our very first Tag and Treat Costume Party. This is a FREE event for the community.

This event includes:

*Numerous candy stations that will be set up with fun activities.
*Costume contest with prizes for 1st and 2nd place in 3 different age groups.
*Kid friendly haunted house.
*One free attraction to be used that day.

Time: 10am – 1pm

Doggie Trick or Treat

Bring your dog and trick or treat around downtown Mason! While the name may say trick or treat this event is all treats for your dog!

Time: 12pm to 1:30 p.m.

Halloween Adventures

Kick off Halloween celebrations and show off your costume during Meridian Township’s Halloween Adventures at Harris Nature Center.

Time: 10am

Sunday, October 28:

Trick or Treat in the Park

This family friendly event celebrates Halloween in a safe and fun way at Veterans Memorial Gardens with local businesses and organizations.

Time: 2pm

 Trunk Or Treat OCC

All ages are invited to Okemos Community Church for an afternoon of candy-filled fun! This Trunk or Treat is “Rain or Shine”and will be move inside to the Social Hall in case of inclement weather. Dress up in your Halloween Costume, or select something to wear at the free “Costume Boo-tique”! Free Candy & Treats, Hot dogs, Popcorn, Inflatables, & Activities!

Time: 4pm – 6pm

Monday, October 29:

Trick or Treat on the Square

Head to Downtown Lansing for a night of spooky fun. One year Potter Park Zoo brought nocturnal animals to the party and we got to pet an apossom! Enjoy music, candy, activities, and a great night out with the family.

Time: 5pm – 7:30pm

Tuesday, October 30:

Great Pumpkin Walk

Rain or Shine this awesome pumpkin walk is on for 2018! Walk the streets of downtown East Lansing in full costume to receive free door-to-door treats from more than 50 downtown merchants.

Time: 5pm – 7pm


While on the Great Pumpkin Walk, head inside the MSU Broad! Try your hand at some ghoulish games, make Halloween-themed crafts, and learn more about your favorite creepy crawly creatures with our friends from the MSU Bug House!

Time: 5pm – 8pm

Wednesday, October 31:

Trick or Treat at Meridian Mall

Travel around the Meridian Mall to each store in your costume and pick out candy all while inside in case of rain!

Time: 5pm – 6pm

Hallelujah Party

Join Mt. Hope Church Portland for a fun time of games, candy, and prizes. Coffee, hot chocolate, and hot dogs available for free!

Time: 6:30pm – 8pm
