WIN! A Prize Basket Worth $75 + A Family Trip to the Michigan History Museum

Michigan History Museum is THE place in Lansing to learn history, and it has a history all its own!

I can remember going on field trips and outings here as a little girl – who can forget the copper mine? Then once I became a teacher myself, I had the fun of taking my own students.

And now, I get to bring my own kids here to explore the rich history of their home state. I love seeing everything for the first time through their eyes!

7 Tips To Have Fun as a Family at the Michigan History Museum

01. Travel from Past to Present

The Michigan History Museum gives you a walk through of Michigan’s past, all the way from the earliest people up to the late 20th century. There are three floors to walk you from past to present!

02. Meet “Carl”

Michigan Historic Center Museum Lansing Kids Families

In the middle of the building is a huge tree named “Carl” that grows all the way up, surrounded by a glass sculpture fountain. Not something you get to see every day. Sometimes people send him cards! If you want to send him a card, address it like this: To Carl C/O the Michigan History Museum 702 W Kalamazoo St, Lansing, MI 48915.

03. See History Come to Life

History comes to life when you see it in front of you. Exhibits like the S&H green stamp store, an old-time movie theater, a replica mail-order bungalow, classic cars, the Henry Ford assembly line, a replica copper mine, and so much more make history way more relatable.

04. Be a Show-Off

The Michigan History Museum is a great place to take out-of-towners. Have a visiting grandparent or family member that wants to see the sights? Don’t miss this one for showing someone not as familiar with Michigan what a cool heritage we have and add depth to a visit to Lansing!

05. Explore

The museum is only a couple blocks from the Capitol, making it an easy pairing for exploring more than just one place with Lansing history.

06. Enjoy Winter

Enjoying-Winter-wonderland-quote-at-Michigan-History-Museum

When winter comes in and the temps go down, the Michigan History Museum is an awesome indoor option. On those extra gray days, it can help just to get out of the house and walk through somewhere that reminds us why Michigan is such a great state.

07: Get FREE Admission

Bonus: The Museum is FREE on Sundays!
